Discover some of Tanzania’s best wildlife areas on this 3-day private safari, which offers great value without cutting back on the experience. You travel in a 4×4 safari vehicle with a pop-up roof, giving you open views and easy photography from your seat, with your own guide and the freedom to set a flexible pace. The route takes you through three celebrated destinations, starting in Tarangire National Park, known for its giant baobab trees and large elephant herds. You then descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a vast volcanic caldera that shelters one of Africa’s densest concentrations of wildlife, before visiting Lake Manyara National Park, with its groundwater forest, soda lake, and tree-climbing lions. Along the way you can look for the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino), making this a rich and rewarding introduction to northern Tanzania. The trip starts and ends in Arusha, making it easy to fit into a longer holiday.
Life on Safari
Arusha is the safari capital of the country and a bustling tourism-driven city. Your driver-guide will meet you in Arusha or at Arusha Airport, and together, you will begin the transfer to Tarangire National Park. The name of the park originates from the Tarangire River, which crosses the park and is the primary source of fresh water for wildlife. This quiet park is famous for its elephant migration, birdlife, and authentic safari atmosphere. You will enjoy a packed lunch at midday, and at the end of the afternoon’s game drive, you will make your way to your budget accommodation.

Be sure to wake up early today so there is no delay on your descent into the famous Ngorongoro Crater. As soon as you arrive in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you will be amazed by the beauty around you. Even more so when you reach the crater’s edge and take in the fantastic view of one of the world’s natural wonders.
The crater of this inactive volcano is approximately 3 million years old, covers 20 km², and is the largest unbroken volcanic caldera in the world. Due to its natural borders, the wildlife in the crater is amazing. The crater is home to the Big Five and offers an excellent chance to spot the rare black rhino. Throw hyenas, zebras, buffalos, and elephants into the mix, and you have the perfect canvas for a pretty awesome safari experience! At the end of the afternoon, you head to your accommodation for a well-deserved night’s rest.

After a good night’s rest, today is the “day of the lions”. Have an early breakfast before checking out, and head towards Lake Manyara National Park. The park is approximately 330 km², of which 200 km² is covered by the lake at maximum water level. From a sea of pink flamingos as far as the eye can see to bull elephants at close range, Lake Manyara showcases a superb variety of herd animals and birdlife. One of the extraordinary aspects of this park is the tree-climbing lions.
After exploring this park with its groundwater forest, you will commence the drive back to Arusha, where it all started, at mid-afternoon. Your heart and camera will be full of memories from your African safari adventure.
