Our Commitment

Tourism That Gives Back

We believe the most meaningful safaris are those that leave Tanzania better than they found it — for wildlife, for local communities, and for future generations of travellers.

Our Six Pillars of Responsible Tourism

🌿

Environmental Conservation

We operate exclusively with lodges and camps that hold recognised eco-certification, minimise single-use plastics, and support active conservation programmes in their concessions.

👥

Community First

Over 80% of our team are from local Tanzanian communities. We partner with Maasai and other indigenous communities to ensure tourism genuinely benefits the people who live alongside the wildlife.

🦁

Wildlife Protection

We adhere to strict off-road driving protocols, maintain safe distances from wildlife, and contribute to anti-poaching initiatives through partnerships with wildlife conservancies.

📚

Education & Empowerment

A portion of every booking funds scholarships for students in Arusha and Moshi. Education is the most sustainable investment we can make in Tanzania's future.

💧

Water Stewardship

We use only lodges with responsible water management practices, and support clean water projects in communities near the national parks where we operate.

🤝

Fair Trade Tourism

We pay all staff and guides above-market wages, provide health insurance, and run a transparent tipping programme so travellers know their gratuities reach the right people.

Our Certification & Partnerships

We are proud members of the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO) and work closely with the Serengeti Lion Project, the African Wildlife Foundation, and local Maasai conservation trusts. Our lodging partners hold certifications from Ecotourism Kenya and Rainforest Alliance.

How Your Safari Makes a Difference

When you book with Serengeti African Tours, a portion of every package goes directly into our Community Fund. This fund has contributed to building two classrooms in Karatu, installing solar panels at three village schools near the Ngorongoro Crater, and sponsoring 14 university scholarships since 2018.

We publish an annual impact report available on request. We believe transparency is the foundation of genuine responsible tourism.

Travel With a Conscience

Every safari you book with us directly funds community projects and conservation in Tanzania.
