Witness one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on Earth on this 5-day safari to the northern Serengeti. The great migration, a continuous journey of over a million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle across the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, is a must-see for wildlife and nature lovers. Your adventure centers on the Serengeti National Park, where you track the herds across the open plains and, in the right season, watch them gather at the banks of the Mara River before plunging into its crocodile-filled waters, a dramatic scene of courage and survival. You also visit the Ngorongoro Crater, beginning with a stop at the Crater Rim to take in a stunning view of the caldera from above. From there you continue with a game drive, exploring one of the largest intact calderas in the world and its remarkable concentration of lions, rhinos, hippos, and other wildlife. With an experienced guide and well-paced days, this safari offers an unforgettable mix of drama, scenery, and classic Tanzanian wildlife.
River crossings in the northern Serengeti typically happen between July and October, so the exact timing and any wildlife species named are my additions, and you may want to adjust them to match your actual itinerary.
