Early Morning Departure:

  • Day trips typically begin with a departure from your location. You’ll travel through scenic landscapes, passing Maasai villages and experiencing the fresh African air.

Arrival and Entrance:

  • Upon reaching the park, you’ll go through the entry formalities and be briefed by your guide about the day’s itinerary and safety regulations.

  • Embark on a Game Drive: The primary activity in Tarangire National Park is an exciting game drive. Buckle up in an open-sided 4WD vehicle and embark on an unforgettable adventure.

  • Witness Diverse Wildlife: Tarangire is known for its abundant wildlife, particularly elephants. You’ll likely encounter large herds of these magnificent creatures and other herbivores like zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, and gazelles.

Predators like lions, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas are also present in the park, although spotting them might require a bit more luck. Keep your eyes peeled and listen attentively to their calls!

Birdwatching enthusiasts will be delighted by the park’s over 550 bird species, including colourful birds like the kori bustard, the lilac-breasted roller, and the secretary bird.

Clothing

Your clothing should be lightweight, breathable, hand-washable, and quick-drying, preferably moisture-wicking and non-cotton. Layers work best! You will want active wear for daily activities and casual dressy clothes for evening.

  • Make copies of passport, visas, drivers license, airline tickets/schedule, travel itinerary, credit cards (front and back), frequent flyer numbers, travel insurance, and emergency contact information. Leave a copy with someone at home and email them to yourself (or store in Cloud). Put copies of your travel itinerary in each checked bag.
