A specially designed 5-day private itinerary for student and school groups, educational trips, excursions, and holidays visiting Tanzania from around the world. This comfortable safari covers the highlights of the northern circuit, giving young travelers a hands-on introduction to Tanzania’s wildlife, ecosystems, and landscapes. Along the way you’ll see blue and black-and-white monkeys in the forest, lions resting in the branches of trees, elephants moving among the acacia woodlands, and a remarkable variety of animals living inside the Ngorongoro Crater, a collapsed volcano. In the Serengeti National Park, home to the Big 5, you’ll experience the vast plains and the rich diversity of life that make it one of the world’s greatest wildlife destinations. With private transport and an experienced guide, the pace is relaxed and flexible, making it a safe, enriching, and memorable adventure that combines learning, discovery, and fun.
The specific monkey species and the park sequence are my additions, so adjust them to match your actual route.
Life on Safari
You’ll be picked up from your hotel in Arusha after breakfast and driven to Tarangire National Park, Tanzania’s third-largest national park and sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. There is a great diversity of wildlife, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, and up to six thousand elephants. The park is perfect for bird watching as the park has over 300 species of birds. You’ll go to the lodge, which is outside the park.

We will enjoy an early breakfast and set off on our game-viewing drive at about 6am. We will have 6 to 7 hours to explore this incredible park. The Serengeti is the habitat for an abundance of wildlife, such as impala, buffalo, crocodile, and hippo, but is more well-known for its great migrating herds of zebras (250,000), wildebeest (1.5 million), and antelope (500,000). The animals’ trek is determined by the rainfall and varies from year to year. Apart from the migrating herds, we may see predators, such as leopards, cheetahs, and lions, plying their rough trade.

An early breakfast will be served at the lodge. We make a short drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Manyara, a relatively small but diverse park 120 km west of Arusha, is named for the shallow salt lake that occupies a good 70 percent of the park’s land. Flooding and drying seasonally, this soda lake is home to thousands of flamingos and over 500 other bird species. On our exploration of the park, we will see monkeys, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, elephants, and, with some luck, lions lounging in trees. The park is known for its diverse landscapes; not only open grassy plains but also primate-filled woodlands and baobab-dotted cliffs.
We return to Arusha after a packed lunch, our adventure having here come to its inevitable close. We will arrive in time for your flight back home or a flight to Zanzibar.
